ROBERT KALKMAN FOUNDATION RECEIVES EUROPEAN GOLF DEVELOPMENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Robert Kalkman Foundation has received the 2015 President’s Award for Golf Development from the PGAs of Europe at the Association’s Gala Awards ceremony at Gloria Hotels & Resorts in Turkey.

The Robert Kalkman Foundation supports children with cancer and/or a physical limitation and encourages them to find a new passion in life by playing golf. Through a series of clinics run across the country each year, both outdoors at golf courses and indoors on simulators, the children are given unforgettable golfing experiences by a team of PGA Professionals and volunteers. The EDGA European Team Championships on Sky Sports 4 Digital

Today (UK time), a 30 minutes programme on the European Disabled Golf Association’s, European Team Championships, will be aired on Sky Sports 4 Digital.

The programme airs at the following times.

Today, 15th December at 18.00, at 23.00 and again at 24.00hrs.

Tomorrow, 16th December at 08.30 and again at 13.00 hrs.

The show will also be shown by broadcasters in following territories over the coming days, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, South Africa and South Korea. Additionally there are ongoing discussions with France, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Czech Republic and Germany.

European Individual Championship 2016 – Save the Date 18-21 June 2016

The European Individual Championship is headed to the Czech Republic for the first time, with the Barbora Golf Resort close to the town of Teplice chosen to host EDGAs premier event of 2016. The date will be from the 18th – 21st of June 2016.

EDGA President Tony Bennett, visited the area and course earlier in the year to meet with representatives of The Czech Golf Federation, Czech Disabled Golf Association and officials from the club, said, “the passion shown by Barbora Golf Resort to host the European Individual Championship is very clear, all at the club are committed to making this event a great experience for all the players”.

Draft 2016 calendar now available

Although the 2015 season has just closed at the Pestana Vila Sol Resort, with the playing of the Association of Tourism Algarve  supported EDGA Algarve Open, thoughts are already turning to the 2016 season.

The Draft 2016 Calendar is now available at www.edgagolf.com . At this stage of the year we are pleased with the schedule and expect perhaps two or three more events to join the tour before the end of January.

Details will be published about all the events over the coming weeks, along with details on how to enter.

EDGA European Team Championships beamed around the world

The EDGA European Team Championships from the Parador de Malaga are being beamed around the world, in The European Tours weekly TV programme. A 3.5 minutes taster has been included in this weeks edition of, “European Tour Weekly”, which reaches millions of households around the globe.

Manuel de los Santos and Jakub Kovarik win the Stroke Play and Stableford Rankings for 2015

After a year of fierce competition, the 2015 Ranking is now complete and all winners can justifiable feel proud of their achievements. For the first time EDGA moved from an Order of Merit system to a Ranking system, and despite the occasional hiccup during the transition phase, the results published on the EDGA website reveal the players who can quite reasonably feel that they are the best players in their division.

The Chris Stilwell Handi-Junior by EDGA and ATA

On Saturday the 21st of November, ten of Europe’s best golfers with disability joined the young players of Portugal to compete for the Chris Stilwell Trophy. The event, which saw one “handi” player lead three young players in a team format competition, was hosted at the Vilamoura Laguna course.

With players from Sweden, France, Belgium, Spain, Denmark and Holland, it was truly a very international field, and all the handi players were full of praise for the young players that they partnered. One player commented that, “the course was ideal for this format, a good layout, a stiff test in the wind and some very challenging holes”.

Manuel de Los Santos wins EDGA Algarve Open in style

After a trio of late birdies under pressure, Manuel de Los Santos took a deep breath and held his nerve to prevail in a dramatic sudden-death play-off to win the European Disabled Golf Association’s Algarve Open 2015.

Friday’s second round (20th November) was played out in brilliant sunshine at the Pestana Vila Sol Resort, with a good crowd of well-wishers and EDGA players relishing the action as tournament leaders de Los Santos and Mathieu Cauneau returned to the 18th tee after both recording a two-round total of 152.

Supported by the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) this was always going to be a special finish to the EDGA season, with the ATA making all players feel very much at home for the three days of practice and the event itself on the challenging 5,975-meter Pestana Vila Sol course.
