EDGA is entering an exciting new phase as we transition to becoming a UK\u2011registered charity. As part of this development, we are expanding our Board of Trustees to strengthen our governance and enhance our ability to develop golf for people with disabilities (G4D).<\/p>\n
We are seeking individuals with a diverse range of skills and experiences who share our commitment to improving accessibility and creating meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities. While knowledge of golf is helpful, it is not essential – what matters most is a passion for inclusion and the ambition to support our next stage of growth.<\/p>\n

EDGA (formerly the European Disabled Golf Association)\u00a0was formed 25 years ago in The Netherlands as a not-for-profit association.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Since then, it has grown into a global organisation dedicated to advocacy, education, and the creation of opportunities for people with disabilities to sample, participate in, and compete in golf. Today, EDGA works with national golf federations in more than 50 countries across five continents.<\/p>\n The EDGA Board has recognised the need to evolve its governance structure, operational capacity, and reporting approaches, to fulfil its purpose and deliver its mission now and in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Consequently, in November 2025 EDGA\u2019s members unanimously supported the board\u2019s recommendation to move to a charity registered in England & Wales. This process is underway and is expected to be completed by late spring 2026. Once complete, the UK charity will be the successor to EDGA (Netherlands) with all assets and activities transferring to the new charity. Existing board members will become Trustees of the charity, and they will be complimented by new, openly recruited trustees to bring greater skills and experience to develop the charity\u2019s objectives.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In late 2025, EDGA finalised their new three-year strategy, and EDGA\u2019s Vision, Mission and Purpose are as follows:<\/p>\n Vision: <\/b>A future where all golfers with disabilities are fully welcomed, supported and thriving within the golf ecosystem.<\/p>\n Mission: <\/b>To advocate for an inclusive sport that celebrates and empowers people with disabilities. We support the development of opportunities for every golfer with a disability by championing inclusion at every level of golf.<\/p>\n Purpose: <\/b>To be the leading provider of knowledge, research, expertise, and advocacy in golf for the disabled (G4D), shaping a sport where inclusion is the standard, not the exception.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A summary of EDGA\u2019s strategy is below:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As we move into our next chapter and become established as a UK\u2011registered charity, we are strengthening our governance by expanding our Board of Trustees. This is a pivotal moment in EDGA\u2019s development, and we want to ensure we have the right blend of skills, experience, and lived perspectives to guide the organisation through this transition and into the future.<\/p>\n We are therefore seeking new Trustees who can help us build a resilient, ambitious, and inclusive charity – one that can achieve its mission, uphold strong governance, and create meaningful impact for golfers with disabilities.<\/p>\n We are specifically seeking Trustees with expertise in:<\/p>\n Finance (charity finance, financial strategy, risk, audit)<\/strong><\/p>\n Income generation & fundraising (corporate partnerships, philanthropy, trusts & foundations, commercial income)<\/strong><\/p>\n UK charity experience (governance, legal, compliance, safeguarding, charity law)<\/strong><\/p>\n We welcome applications from everyone, including people with lived experience of disability, and from those who are new to trusteeship but bring relevant professional skills.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Trustees will play a vital role in ensuring the charity is well governed, financially sustainable, and delivering meaningful impact.<\/p>\n Core Responsibilities – Provide strategic leadership and oversight<\/strong><\/p>\n Ensure financial stability and effective risk management<\/p>\n Uphold the charity\u2019s mission, values, and legal obligations<\/p>\n Support and challenge the new Executive Director & paid workforce<\/p>\n Approve budgets, plans, and major decisions<\/p>\n Act as an ambassador for the charity<\/p>\n Time Commitment<\/b><\/p>\n 4\u20136 Board meetings per year (meetings are currently run online)<\/p>\n Attendance at relevant subcommittee meetings (run online)<\/p>\n Attendance at key events where possible<\/p>\n Approx. 1\u20132 days per month\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Term of Office<\/b><\/p>\n Three year term, re-appointable up to three times<\/p>\n Remuneration<\/b><\/p>\n This is a voluntary role<\/p>\n Reasonable expenses are reimbursed<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Essential Attributes (all trustees)<\/b><\/p>\n Commitment to disability inclusion and the charity\u2019s mission<\/p>\n Strategic thinking and sound judgement<\/p>\n Willingness to contribute actively and collaboratively<\/p>\n Understanding of collective responsibility and good governance<\/p>\n Ability to act with integrity, independence, and confidentiality<\/p>\n Aligned with the Nolan Principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.<\/p>\n Visionary, dynamic, and resilient with strategic perspective.<\/p>\n Low ego; relationship builder.<\/p>\n Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.<\/p>\n Commitment to EDGA\u2019s values and long-term mission.<\/p>\n Willingness to invest time and energy as an ambassador and resource for the organisation.<\/p>\n 1.
