EDGA aims to be inclusive of players with disability of all types. EDGA eligibility is about the degree of impairment a player has so the extent of joint stiffness, muscle weakness, limb length deficits, paralysis, vision, intellectual impairment etc. rather than the diagnosis itself. We have different levels of pass and aim to include players of all abilities. Players are subject to review at any time.
Types of passes:
WR4GD PASS
– A WR4GD Pass demonstrates a Minimum Level of Impairment in the 10 eligible impairments listed by the IPC.
– It allows players to participate in any EDGA-badged tournaments including the Premier Series with all results included in the WR4GD World Rankings.
ACCESS PASS
– The Access Plus Pass is for players whose impairments fall under the IPC eligible categories, but who require assessment face to face to determine their WR4GD eligibility status.
– The Access Pass is for players with a disability described in the 10 qualifying categories but not severe enough to qualify for the WR4GD pass. Players with this Pass are able to play in most EDGA Events but are not able to accumulate World Ranking Points. The results are not included in the WR4GD World Rankings.
– The Access Conditional Pass is for players who have a condition which is accepted as a disability in the country in which they live and play golf in but is not one of the qualifying categories. This may include conditions such as deafness, heart disease, epilepsy and PTSD as examples.
We can assess players face to face at tournaments to determine what type of pass is right for them. EDGA Eligibility Assessors are experienced and highly qualified doctors and physiotherapists who can perform detailed assessments to determine eligibility for player passes and classification. They have undergone training specific to G4D and have demonstrated competency in this field. Visual and Intellectual Impairments are assessed by approved specialists outside EDGA.
