I wanted to recover and I gave 200% to get there. It wasn&#8217;t easy but each little victory over the body was fantastic. My passion for golf motivated me to get back up, I absolutely wanted to play again.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>Recovery to walk and promote balance was a triumph in itself. To this day I try to turn as much as possible around an axis in order to limit any imbalance. All this was created with several coaches including Franck Mora my first coach and Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Cupillard [coach of the French team]. This smiling but focused woman from South West France was ready to take on Jos\u00e9 Bagnarelli, a skilful Italian player who has also had to fight to regain mobility and balance after a motorcycle crash. The pair enjoy a great mutual respect and are firm friends having played many EDGA supported tournaments.<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_20896\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20896\" style=\"width: 525px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20896 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19483-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19483-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19483-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19483-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19483-1536x1023.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19483.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20896\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alexia with friend and RSM Play-off final rival Jos\u00e9 Bagnarelli<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>In the closest match of the week, Alexia would win a dramatic Net final but only after the encounter was \u2018all square\u2019 after 18 holes, needing five extra \u2018sudden-death\u2019 play-off holes to find a champion in the late summer dusk.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Alexia said: \u201cFinishing my final on the 23rd hole, playing against my great friend Jos\u00e9, was like a dream for me. Despite this friendship, the game was at times a little tense, we both wanted to go to the end of this adventure with its twists and turns. My approach shot to the green on the 18th to a few centimetres from the flag, when I thought I had lost, remains a special memory.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_20897\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20897\" style=\"width: 525px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20897 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19775-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19775-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19775-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19775-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19775-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19775.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20897\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The RSM Play-offs 2024 were about tournament golf and making friends; here with Catherine Gracie of France (left)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>Alexia&#8217;s great form in the Net rankings would also lead to qualification to represent France in the 2024 G4D Tour @ Estrella Damm N.A. Andaluc\u00eda Masters in Spain a month later, where she finished in a highly competitive fourth place; another fantastic golf experience in a stellar year.<\/p>\r\n<p>It\u2019s not all about competition for Alexia, who loves her work at AnD Architectes and is a member at Golf Club Agen Bon-Encontre. \u201cI also like to volunteer to encourage others. During our golf initiation sessions for people with a disability we very quickly see the health benefits. It is great that we can support other people.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\">Being able to join friends in the great outdoors, or to reflect on life alone in the fresh air, all with a golf club in your hand, is important, says Alexia.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cSpring, summer and autumn are fabulous seasons at the golf course. Summer is the one that offers us optimal playing conditions. If I couldn&#8217;t play golf, I go hiking, but golf remains an activity in the middle of nature and I need it.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIndeed there are days when I manage my balance problems less well, when fatigue takes over it becomes complicated but I adapt. I make my day on the course work with the best swing of the day that I have, to limit the damage on my scorecard. The crucial thing for me is I have, whatever happens, the possibility to play, and that&#8217;s the most important thing.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Friendships through golf<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>It was a fellow French national, Nino Ourabah (a golfer who plays with one arm), who had inspired Alexia to try G4D (golf for the disabled) events, and today aged 49 and playing off a golf handicap of 13.7, Alexia is playing her very best golf and wanted to commend Nino for his assistance and also offer \u201cspecial thanks to Patricia, C\u00e9line, M\u00e9lanie, Isa and Nadia who are of absolute support\u201d.<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_20892\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20892\" style=\"width: 525px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20892 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19444-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19444-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19444-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19444-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19444-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.edgagolf.com\/profiles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/19444.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20892\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alexia receives her RSM Net Play-off trophy from RSM Golf Ambassador and Ladies&#8217; European Tour star Alice Hewson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>Certainly, mutual encouragement among fellow players is one of the celebrated assets of G4D, in competition, practice, play, or simply encouraging people with any disability \u2013 physical, neurological, sensory or intellectual \u2013 to try the game.<\/p>\r\n<p>None of this work would be possible without the support of organisations that believe in the power of inclusion. For walking in nature and sharing a game with friends. Golf is a disabled-friendly sport, the ball is static, and it&#8217;s magical to see people who think they can&#8217;t play sport, but discover that golf is possible.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cThere are two very different things about friendship in golf. The first is to meet the players we know again and this is always very nice, while the second is the new encounters and these moments shared on the course.
